Improving the standards of national blood banking practices through capacity building

Human capital building of blood bank staff is necessary to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure sustainability. Within six months, a contextual curriculum was designed and implemented among 13 head of the blood banks and laboratories of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (www.cbchealthservices.org) to help with the acquisition of novel skills in domain such as; Effective strategies for donor recruitment and retention, quality assurance, hemovigilance and development of a quality team. We have to speak more about those who have decided to be background heros to the transfusion chain, these are the voluntary blood donors. Every month, we recognize a blood donor via our social media platforms, wherein at the end of the year, we prepare a surprise package for these unsung heros, blood donors.
